Vacations never last long enough! Our last day was spent on the couch; Jeff was sick and I was sore. Surveying the damage, I came out pretty clean – only 2 knee bruises. Looks like Jeff and I are gonna have to buy our own snowboards – I could get used to this.

Start at the beginning: Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

Our third day was spent at Boreal where I went up a lift for the first time! The whole time I was on it all I could do was think of my friend George who told me he went on a lift, didn’t want to get off, and rode the whole thing back down. George, I’m happy to say I managed to get off every single time!

After 2 days of falling down every five seconds, I actually managed to ride down the mountain a little.

Our second day in Tahoe was spent at Kingvale – tubing, snowmobiling, and falling in my snowboard. I have to admit that it pays to know the owners! Not only did I get to eat my fair share of candy from the Snack Shake, but we were treated to a snowmobile tour of the private grounds.

Tubing: I was too scared to go on my stomach.

My snowman: Jon said it looked like a boob.

One of the founders of Kingvale, Day, is also one of the co-founders of Railbuilders.com. They build rails for parks all over.

Jeff and I almost tipped in the snowmobile.

While Jeff spent time re-learning to ride (he hasn’t ridden since college), I spent my time tired and lying on my back (getting your bindings on and actually getting up take a lot out of you!).

After 8 long and cramped hours, Jeff and I arrived in Sacramento. A short drive later and we were in Truckee, California on Donner Pass (named after the Donner party that got lost and ended up eating each other). Even though our muscles hurt from sitting on the plane, we managed to get our snowboard gear on and headed over to Kingvale. My first day of snowboarding was full of falls, screams, and aches. By the end of the day, I was exhausted and ready for bed.

It’s kinda like skateboarding!
