Sometimes the best thing to do on a holiday weekend is to stay in the city and really enjoy it. Free of tourists and of most residents, for those who stay behind, New York can feel like it’s just yours. For this Memorial Day weekend, we ran around Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights and played in the hot sun and beautiful weather.
You’ll find art on every block in Dumbo.

This guy also did those little figures at the station on 14th and 8th.

Along with art, we saw guys skateboarding down the hill on Columbia Heights.

We ended the weekend by hanging out on the astroturf in Cadman Plaza. I like how it’s so squishy!

That blonde lady is trash. She should be picked up by waste management and dumped in New Jersey.
- says Sean about Alex from The Real Housewives of New York.
The Brooklyn blogs have already been abuzz about crazy Alex. I’m still trying to figure out what street she lives on (Brooklyn Heights is right next to Cobble Hill).
Walked out of my apartment on Henry and Pierrepont and who do I run into? Tyra Banks! I wonder what she was doing in Brooklyn Heights at 4:45 on a Saturday. She was wearing a tropical looking mini dress and had long blonde hair. She didn’t stay long, but ended up running back into her SUV parked in front of the Wamu on Henry and Montague. Random.
UPDATE: Ted from E! mentions that Tyra is dating an i-banker from Wall Street. Ted writes “Scuttlebutt gab is that the man is John Utendahl, an investment banker on Wall Street. He’s tall (6’3″, to be exact, so Tyra can wear her Manolos without fear of towering over him, so unlike Kate Cruise), dark and handsome.” Now, it makes sense! Jeff and I were hypothesizing that Tyra was there ether for a burger from 5 guys or was visiting Corcoran. If she moves to Brooklyn Heights, she’ll only be 1 stop away from Wall Street care of the 2/3.
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of admiring the beauty of my neighborhood… more pictures of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo.

Pierrepont Street.

Tulips on Columbia Heights.

Is there ever a time when there isn’t a line at Grimaldi’s?

Usually the most exciting thing you’ll come across during a stroll on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade is a few couples making out and some dogs playing. This Saturday as I looked across the water at New York’s Financial District, I saw The Floating Pool Lady docked by the Promenade. I wonder what’s it like to take a dive while riding down the Hudson!
